At RRA we are very happy to learn that we are now officially participating in the competition to develop and transform the Norwegian Government Headquarters in Oslo. The upcoming project is by far the most extensive construction project in Norway!

Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter are part of Team DNA (Det Norske Arkitektkontor), a collaboration of architects from most regions of the country; Pir II Trondheim/Oslo, 3RW Bergen, 70° Nord Tromsø, Smedsvig Landscape Architects Bergen, LALA Tøyen Oslo and RRA + SAAHA Oslo.

The multidisciplinary collaborators at Team DNA includes WSP Norway, Høyer Finseth, Niras , ECT and Deltatek. Team DNA is 1 of 7 teams pre-selected for the next stage as announced by Statsbygg today!

The design proposal will consist of 90,000 to 100,000 M2 and must include the Iconic building "Høyblokka" (high-building), completed in 1958 by famed Norwegian architect Erling Viksjø.

The “memory” of the area will be an important part of the project.

On July 22nd, 2011 the site became the scene of the first terrorist attack in Norway killing 8 people and injuring hundreds, then followed by the massacre on a Workers' Youth League (AUF)-run summer camp at  Ytøya Island afterwards, killing 69 people and injuring at least 110 people.

There has been, and still is, an extensive national debate regarding the conservation of the damaged buildings, the Y-block and H-block, whether to be restored or teared-down, especially due to the art from Picasso and Nesjar which are integral parts of the construction.

The competition will initiate in December and due date for delivery is Spring 2017. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2025.
