Stjørdal Cultural Center awarded European Steel Design Award 2017

Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter and team proudly received the European Steel Design Award 2017 for the project Cultural Center Stjørdal (Kimen Kulturhus).

The European Steel Design Awards are given by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) every two years to encourage the creative and outstanding use of steel in architecture and construction. The winner is selected from an international jury.

One example of outstanding steel work in the Cultural Center is the spiral staircase which catches the attention as an iconic object in the building. Another example is the unique design of the steel mesh on the facade.

Last year the project also won the Norwegian Concrete Award. Designed in collaboration with designed in collaboration with Lusparken Arkitekter and JST Arkitekter, the building of 11,500m2 contains a library, café, youth center, art gallery, concert halls, cinemas, a church and venues for dance, music, media, art and other activities.

The team received the Award at a ceremony in Copenhagen on Friday 15th Sept.
